Kennel Club Awards – All Levels

Cardiff Canine Citizens is a Kennel Club Listed Status Club and we hold classes covering all of the Good Citizen Dog Scheme Levels.

K.C Puppy Foundation Level Classes

A seven week course. First week, on a Saturday starts with the Introductory Session lasting 90 minutes this is followed by six weekly sessions of 55 minutes. Barry on a Monday evening and Cardiff on a Tuesday evening. Cost : £65 (complete cost for seven week course). Find out more

Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award- Puppy Returners

Aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its owner to clean, groom and inspect it. Cost : £55 (complete cost for six week course). Find out more

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Silver Award

Aims to build upon the skills learned in the Bronze Award whilst increasing the level of difficulty. Cost : £55 (complete cost for six week course). Find out more

Other Classes

Cardiff Canine Citizens holds many weekly classes covering basic training, Prickly Pooches, Recall and Rally.

Beginners and Basics

This class is suitable for dogs who have received little or no training. Ideal for rescue dogs but not suitable for dogs showing any signs of aggression with people or other dogs. Cost : £55 (complete cost for six week course). Find out more.

Recall Classes

Do you have a runaway on your hands? Does your dog turn ‘deaf’ when you call them? Are walks becoming a chore? This could be the class for you! Free Goody Bag, including a 10 metre training line! Cost : £65 (complete cost for four week course). Find out more.

Toys and Tinies

This is important for all small breeds, but especially so if your small dog is already displaying signs of anxiety around other dogs (lowered stance, tail tucked between the legs, pulling back on the lead on meeting other dogs). Cost : £65 (complete cost for four week course).

Trick 4 Treat Classes

Trick training to keep your dog entertained and its mind active. Covering give paw, twirling, beg, crawling, roll over, closing the door, walking backwards etc. Class led, so we would welcome suggestions! A four week course of one hour a week with 4-6 dogs in class.Cost : £65 (complete cost for four week course).

Prickly Pooches (i)

Do you own a dog that reacts badly around other dogs? Or do you own a dog that is nervous and worried by other dogs and tries to avoid them? Are you embarrassed and frustrated and don’t know where to turn? Have you become a member of the Midnight Walkers’ Brigade in order to avoid other dog walkers? Our classes are suitable for dogs who may be nervous, under socialised or who may have had a negative experience around other dogs. Our classes are supportive, friendly and probably the quietest classes you could ever attend! Free Goody Bag. For dogs who have successfully completed the Prickly Pooches (i) course. Cost : £85. Find out more.

Prickly Pooches Practice Sessions

There are also regular fortnightly/monthly, 90 minute, practice sessions. These usually take place on a Sunday morning at Willows High School. These sessions are open to anyone who has previously attended a Prickly Pooches course or had a one to one or Behaviour Consultation for a reactive dog, booking is essential. Cost: £10 We here at Cardiff Canine Citizens understand the importance of correct socialisation and training in puppies to equip them with all the life skills they will require as adult dogs. So we have a range of services and some special offers on our Puppy Packages! To take advantage of these offers you will be required to book and pay for the complete package in advance. Procurement Package

Puppy Package Offers

Bespoke Puppy Package

Offering private, one to one home visits tailor made to owners individual requirements. This can be undertaken when you are at work or otherwise engaged! Including basic training, sit, down, stand, leave etc. car travel, meeting other dogs and animals, walking on a lead, no jumping up, socialisation and habituation etc. Let me assist with that new puppy so that you can enjoy the experience more fully! Puppy Parties

Puppy Parties I am available to either completely host or talk about the importance of socialisation and habituation at veterinary surgeries, grooming parlours, rescue organisations or other interest groups, please enquire.

Behaviour Consultations

Behaviour Consultations and One to One Training Dogs may have issues or problems for a range of reasons including prior learning, breed predisposition and lack of socialisation and habituation.Your dog’s issues or unwanted behaviour is highly unlikely to cease without correct intervention and may even become worse. The longer it continues it is often more difficult to remedy. (A) Behaviour Consultation at your home lasting 2 hours. Cost £99 (B) Behaviour Consultation at your home lasting 2 hours, with full report for your referring veterinary surgeon £130. (C) Behaviour Consultation Package comprising of 1st visit 2 hours and follow up visits 2nd and 3rd one hour (one visit each week for three weeks within 10 miles of central Cardiff) £175. Behaviour Consultations prices within 10 miles of central Cardiff. Travel charges will be applicable to visits further than 10 miles from central Cardiff, charged at 50p per mile. Telephone Consultation

The consultation lasts one hour and costs £25. You will also be responsible for the cost of the call. Complete an online booking form or email me with your time preferences and I will book you a consultation. This service is unlikely to be able to be used for certain behaviour problems such as canine aggression, but I will advise prior to booking. Payment is via PayPal £25. Find out more

One to One Training

If you can’t make a class or have specific areas you’d like to work on with me, such as recall, pulling on the lead, jumping up etc. For behavioural issues see consultations below. Find out more. (A) One to One Training One to One Training at your home lasting 1 hour, within 10 miles of central Cardiff Cost : £45 (B) One to One Training Package One to One Training at your home, 1st visit 90 minutes, 2nd visit 1 hour, within 10 miles of central Cardiff Cost : £99 (C) One to One Training Package One to One Training at your home, 1st visit 90 minutes, 2nd visit 1 hour, 3rd visit 1 hour, within 10 miles of central Cardiff Cost : £120 Mileage charges are applicable for all visits further than 10 miles from central Cardiff.

Child Safety Lessons

Teaching children how to be safe around puppies and dogs, either individually or in groups. All tutors have enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure. Educational services talks suitable for children from nursery age and up. Special rates for Brownies, Scouts, Beavers and certain interest groups. Talks cover how to stay safe around dogs, responsibility, legal requirements, caring for a dog etc. Prices vary-please enquire.

Children’s Parties

Fun and educational! Teaching children how to be safe around puppies and dogs, either individually or in groups. Children can scan the toy dogs for their microchips, guess the breed and meet a real dog who can demonstrate some simple tricks. Suitable for children from nursery age and up. Bespoke Services

Temperament Assessments

I am also available to temperament access dogs and provide a Behavioural Report for clients seeking to foster or adopt a child or for those facing prosecution under the Dangerous Dogs Ac 1991, Section 3, or the Dogs Act 1871. I am available as an expert witness in court.
