Hydrotherapy with AquaDogs

“Hydrotherapy is used as a non weight bearing exercise for your dog to help recovery from surgery or injury, or to improve conditions such as arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, ligament damage and muscle strain. It can also be used to strengthen muscles and improve fitness levels.”

Aqua Dogs, Cardiff’s Canine Hydrotherapy Centre

I cannot recommend highly enough the excellent care and treatment which my own dogs have received at Aqua Dogs in Seawall Road, Cardiff. Angela is a fully trained and professional Hydrotherapist, along with Ruth, her dedicated assistant, they provide various Hydrotherapy treatments at the centre and have state of the art equipment; a heated hydrotherapy pool and under water treadmill. The atmosphere at the centre is certainly very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The dogs definitely come first! They also sell a wide range of doggie items. My dogs adore the hedgehog and crocodile shape vegetable chews, which haven’t upset their tummies like some treats can.

The Benefits of Underwater Treadmills in Pet Rehabilitation

Vets are very busy people and may forget to recommend Hydrotherapy for your dog, so as owners it is important for us to enquire and seek out the very best for our pets, who are at the mercy of our choices. It is always worth seeking treatment early on as often there is then a better prognosis.

My dogs will probably attend for the rest of their lives as I believe that the benefits are outstanding. As owners we can also choose the Hydrotherapy centre which we use. Contact Angela for an informal chat, she is so very knowledgeable and informative but extremely approachable and easy to speak with.

I would strongly recommend owners, particularly if you have pet insurance (as this usually covers hydrotherapy for medical reasons), to ask your vet if Hydrotherapy could be beneficial to your dog if it is suffering from any mobility problems and ask your vet for a referral to Aqua Dogs, Cardiff’s Canine Hydrotherapy Centre. Your dog will thank you for it!
